Microsoft Excel is a data computing software that employs spreadsheets to sort data using formulas and functions. On the other hand, SPSS is used in research for sophisticated data analysis. While Excel helps in the basic computation of data, SPSS gives more detailed analysis to data that enables researchers to make more detailed inferences from data. SPSS is preferred for data management for the following reasons. First, the software has tools in its data output interface that enable the user to develop charts and tables for analyzed data.
Additionally, the software allows for the computation of qualitative data by having the string variable option while defining variables. For example, using SPSS, descriptive data for qualitative data such as age and gender can be obtained by assigning a numeric value to string variables. Consequently, the user is able to obtain the desired results on the output interface. According to (Ozgur et al.,2017) relates data that is coded numerically to the intended meaning. Besides, SPSS allows for the importation of data from other software, while in Excel, the user has to key data manually.
SPSS is best suited in analyzing demographic data as opposed to Excel. Demographic data include age, income, education and race. The data is vital in understanding the population. As a result, detailed analysis by SPSS makes it preferable to Excel when studying data. To conclude, SPSS should be recommended in data management as it has data analyzing tools that present the data more elaborately.

Part 1
1. Import the Excel file into SPSS.
2. Sort by age in SPSS to determine the age-range of participants in the data set.
3. Use the Descriptive Statistics Feature in SPSS to find the mean and standard deviation for the “Age” and “Annual Income.”
4. Use the “Frequencies” feature to create frequency tables for the employed, education level and sex variables.
5. Recode the sex variable where “Male”=1 and “Female”=2. Create a frequency table for the new variable.
