1. What are your upcoming week’s specific learning goals and objectives?

Continuing training on excellent hospice care leadership will be one of my particular learning goals and objectives for the following week. I will discover that nurse staffing for hospice care is primarily concerned with symptom control and comfort. Similarly, I’ll learn how to give IV drugs, which is something I’ve never done before, so I’m looking forward to it. In addition, I will continue to care for and treat patients in general.

2. What is your upcoming week’s detailed schedule at your community practice experience placement?
During the week, I will be attending DTI meetings and visiting patients for following up on routine care.
3. Were there any placement items/issues that occurred this week that you feel your instructor should be aware of that are private and are more appropriately shared here than in the discussion board with your classmates?
During my usual clinical visits this week, there was no aspect or difficulty with placement that the instructor should be aware of due to its nature. It was a really useful and beneficial week since I got to see and learn about pressure ulcers, how to recognize and categorize them based on their features, and how to employ therapies as part of palliative care for the elderly.

This week, I was tasked to work in hospice department with an experienced nurse. Following the conventional wound care standards, I learnt how to treat wounds and pressure ulcers (Agar & Phillips, 2015). I was a part of the process of caring for people with bedsores. I learned how to diagnose and classify wounds based on their features, as well as the risk factors that lead to the formation of pressure ulcers and the treatment utilized in palliative care for the elderly. Because pressure ulcers may result to infections, preventative education is critical. Bed sores develop as a result of prolonged pressure, friction, or shear on the skin, which restricts blood flow (DeMarco, 2017). Redness, ulceration, a persistent wound, or swelling are all symptoms. Cleaning and treating the injury, as well as minimizing pressure on the sore via regular changes in posture, are all part of the treatment.
