Select one theory that is useful to your practice setting. ( Use Dorothea Orem’s Nursing Theory ) Research the literature for refereed journal articles that discuss the use of the theory in practice. Critically review the theory and develop a plan for how you would utilize this theory in your practice to include holistic spiritual nursing. (use chapter 3 of Parker & Smith to review theory) In a 6-8 page 6th edition APA paper (this does not include the title page and reference page): Provide an overview of the theory Discuss the rationale for selection of this theory Develop a plan to implement the theory Describe barriers and challenges to implementation How would you evaluate the effectiveness of care provided using this theory? Applying Learning Theories to Healthcare Practice

• Define the principal constructs of each learning theory.
• Differentiate among the basic approaches to learning for each of the five psychological learning theories.
• Give an example of applying each psychological theory to changing the attitudes and behaviors of learners in a specific situation.
• Outline alternative strategies for learning in a given situation using at least two different psychological learning theories.
• Identify the differences and similarities in the psychological learning theories specific to (a) the basic procedures of learning, (b) the assumptions made about the learning, (c) the task of the educator, (d) the sources of motivation, and (e) the way in which the transfer of learning is facilitated.
• Discuss how neuroscience research has contributed to a better understanding of learning and learning theories.
• Identify specific teaching strategies for each stage of Fitts and Posner’s three stages of motor learning.
• Explain how different types of practice and feedback variables in motor learning can be applied to patient teaching.
